(LAS VEGAS) – July 28, 2005 - Visitors to the World MarketPlace at Las Vegas Convention Center are pleased to find dynamic new product lines across all industry segments including a number of up and coming manufacturers. World MarketPlace is part of the inaugural Las Vegas Market and features more than 700 exhibitors in over 630,000 square feet of temporary exhibit space with categories across the entire spectrum of the home furnishings industry, including furniture, decorative accessories, wall décor, lighting, area rugs, floor coverings, home textile, bedding, mattresses, and more.
Mark Phillips, owner of The Phillips Collection, a high-end decorative accessory company, said:
“We’re seeing more and more traffic everyday and I’m overwhelmed. We did more business yesterday than we did in one week at another market. Buyers are extremely qualified here, and in Las Vegas, the average order value is higher than any other venue we show at in the U.S. We’ve seen new buyers in the West and a surprising number from Texas. There’s also a good South American presence of buyers, including Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Mexico.”
Diane Harlan, a buyer from Bentonville, AR visited all three of the Las Vegas Market venues and came back to the Las Vegas Convention Center for the second time, commenting that “it’s great and we feel most comfortable here. The openness of the halls means that we can see at a glance what we’re interested in.”
Gene Hodges, President of furniture manufacturer Master Design, said: “The buyers are really enjoying themselves here in Las Vegas. It’s easy to travel, hotel rates are reasonable, food is very good and the city knows how to treat its guests. Coming to Las Vegas to work, sell and buy is simply a good value for both vendors and buyers. World Market Center has regenerated the industry and has made market fun again. I strongly think Las Vegas is poised for success.”
Rene Barreveld, owner of Barreveld Inc., a home and garden accessory company exhibiting at World Marketplace said: “We’ve had a very good response here and are pleased with the quality and the variety of customers. About half of who we’re seeing are new buyers, particularly in furniture and interior design arenas, which presents wonderful cross-merchandising opportunities.”
