World Market Center Hosts “Grand Gourmet Safari” as Part of the Third Annual World Gourmet Summit Las Vegas

(LAS VEGAS) – August 30, 2006 - World Market Center Las Vegas will be the venue for the first Grand Gourmet Safari in Las Vegas on September 8 and 9, 2006 from noon to 6 p.m. This event will give gourmet enthusiasts the opportunity to attend cooking and wine pairing demonstrations, sample wines from vineyards across five continents, listen to lifestyle experts, enjoy live entertainment, taste gourmet food prepared by Master Chefs from around the world and participate in an auction for the benefit of young hospitality students.

Interactive events will include a plate-painting session led by the famous French artist Alain Vavro, designer of Paul Bocuse’s china ware; spectacular ice-carving and vegetable-carving competitions; as well as a special presentation by Lyn Farmer, a prestigious James Beard Award winner and master on wine and lifestyle.

Food & Wine Meets Design
With the Gourmet Safari coinciding with the First Friday of the month, LVDC is integrating a lifestyle seminar into the event and has invited Lyn Farmer, a highly regarded authority on wine and spirits, to join the celebration.

As guests embark on a two-day culinary odyssey throughout the LVDC, they are invited to join Farmer for a special presentation on Friday, September 8 at 3 p.m. His presentation is sure to be an educational feast covering the greatest wines of the world!

Lyn Farmer is Director of Special Events for Regent Seven Seas Cruises (formerly Radisson Seven Seas Cruises). In this capacity he develops special thematic programs on a variety of topics including antiques, music and food and wine. He is the luxury cruise line’s entertainment coordinator and plays a significant role in developing and implementing the company’s food and wine program on board its luxury cruise ships and, more recently, in the growing Regent Hotel chain.

In addition to his work at Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Farmer is Senior Editor of The Wine News magazine and a widely regarded authority on spirits and wine. In 2004 he was honored with the James Beard Award for best wine and spirits writing of the year, the most prestigious prize in food and wine journalism in the United States. He was nominated for a second Beard Award in 2005. Lyn is also senior restaurant critic of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper covering the South Florida dining scene from Miami to Palm Beach. He is also Director of the Miami Wine and Food Festival which each year nets more than $1 million for its two participating charities, United Way of Miami-Dade and Camillus House.
