(LAS VEGAS) – May 23, 2007 – The California Central Nevada chapter of American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) will host its first-ever Pre-Market Inventory Clearance Sale open to the general public June 8 and 9, 2007 at Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center.
The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 495 S. Grand Central Parkway both days. A $10 cash admission fee will be collected at the door and will benefit the Nevada Aids Project, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas and Opportunity Village.
Stephen Leon of the Las Vegas-based Soliel Design is communications director for ASID. Leon said the chapter members look forward to interacting with the Las Vegas public and helping to elevate the design community in Las Vegas.
“This is truly a win-win and perfect scenario for all involved,” Leon said. “Designers, showrooms and charities will all benefit from this special event. What a perfect scenario.”
Approximately 70 of the year-round Las Vegas Design Center showrooms in Building A and Building B will offer merchandise for sale during the event, representing a broad cross section of home furnishings products, décor and accessories at greatly reduced prices. Capital North American Van Lines will be available to arrange deliveries for a fee to shoppers buying large merchandise.
Gerry Sawyer, COO of World Market Center, said the trade show campus regularly offers merchandise sales to interior designers prior to its bi-annual Las Vegas Markets. The inspiration to open the sale to the general public for the first time helps fulfill Las Vegas Market’s ongoing mission to both elevate the interior design industry and be a partner to the community. “By opening the inventory clearance sale to the general public, we can generate exposure for local designers, for our showrooms and at the same time raise funds for some incredibly deserving organizations, including the Nevada Aids Project, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas and Opportunity Village,” Sawyer said.
Nevada Aids Project Inc. is the first of its kind, independent HIV/AIDS agency in the Valley. “World Market Center being innovative and taking interest in NAP has shown forward community thinking,” said Dennis Dunn, executive director for Nevada Aids Project, Inc. “The funds raised through the public sale will help NAP look toward finding numbers that are closer to reality as we believe the number of cases in the valley is far greater than now reported by the agencies doing the HIV census. We also would like to do some social marketing to raise awareness to HIV Research in Las Vegas.”
Guy Amato, president/CEO of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, said World Market has been a supporter of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas since its beginnings in Las Vegas. “They have hosted events for us and we have received furniture from several showrooms as a way of raising funds for our operation,” Amato said. “World Market Center has been a proactive partner and we look forward to their assistance in our efforts to provide simple, decent housing for working families.”
Linda Smith, Chief Development Officer and Associate Executive Director of Opportunity Village remarked that “Since the day World Market Center opened its doors, it has been a true community partner. Opportunity Village has been extremely fortunate. We consider World Market Center to be a real advocate for people with intellectual disabilities. Through their generosity, we have been able to continue to expand desperately needed programs and services. This event will certainly be exciting for the public and for Opportunity Village”
