(Nov. 23, 2009) First Friday Event to Color Las Vegas Design Center

How can something as seemingly basic as color leave such a lasting impression? It affects our moods, impacts our decisions and is so much more than a reflection of light. Learn why Friday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. during “The Golden Touch,” as designer Nancy Golden gives insight into the psychology of color. The presentation is part of the First Friday at Las Vegas Design Center program.

Color has always been a motivator for Golden, in its most complex and even its most simple forms. As a professional interior designer for more than three decades, Golden is an expert on the mystery behind our response to color, both emotionally and physiologically.

The part-time Las Vegas resident will address topics such as:

· Why red and orange are popular colors for fast-food restaurants.
· What decorations may be more appropriate than a red wall in some areas of the home?
· How color sends subliminal messages and initiates a response.
· Why packaging for laundry soap is often yellow, orange or red.
· How a person’s background and upbringing actually impact the ways in which he or she is influenced by color.
· Which colors imply that something is costly?

Throughout her career Golden hosted several interior design television programs, including DIY Network’s “Decorating & Design,” “Ask DIY” and “Bare Walls,” in addition to HGTV’s “Southern Living Holiday Idea House” and her own signature series, “Weekend Decorating.” She once co-hosted a Bare Walls segment and Designer Genes lecture with her son and Oprah favorite, Nate Berkus

She’ll discuss her television experience as well as her transition into the world of jewelry design. Some of the pieces from Golden’s Goldenwear line will be on display in the Omnia Furniture showroom at Las Vegas Design Center following her First Friday talk.

A not-to-be missed shopping day for local and out-of-market design professionals, “First Friday” at Las Vegas Design Center features educational opportunities, unique showroom specials, hospitality and other exclusive offerings for the trade.

Listen to Golden speak from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 4 in C-184 at World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 South Grand Central Parkway. To R.S.V.P. or for more information on either First Friday seminar, please e-mail LVDC@LVDesignCenter.com or call (702) 599-3093.
