A World-Class Airport
As a visitor’s first and last impression of Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport strives to provide outstanding customer service in a secure environment. In its 2002 Global Airport Satisfaction Survey, J.D. Power and Associates rated McCarran #1 in overall customer satisfaction among large U.S. airports, and second in the world only to Hong Kong.
McCarran Airport is one mile from the Strip and only 5 miles from Downtown Las Vegas, making hotel access very convenient even without a rental car. With over 60 air carriers and direct flights to 93 U.S. cities, McCarran is among the most sophisticated airports in the world. Nearly 900 daily scheduled flights operate in and out of McCarran, including domestic and international non-stop service to Canada, Germany, Japan, England, Singapore, and Mexico.
Getting into and out of Las Vegas has gotten easier with the addition of 26 more gates at McCarran Airport. In 1999, McCarran recorded its highest year-end percentage passenger increase in five years. The city recently purchased 6,500 acres near Jean, south of Las Vegas, for a proposed second airport site, which could handle an additional 30 million passengers annually.
Cutting-Edge Transportation
World Market Center will offer attendees continuous shuttle service between host hotels and Market and the Las Vegas Convention Center and World Market Center, beginning at 6:30am and running continuously every day of Market.. In addition to convenient Market transportation, Las Vegas offers myriad options for business travelers 24 hours a day, from hundreds of buses and charters, to limousines and taxicabs. Average taxi fares are $15 from McCarran to the Strip, $20 from McCarran to Downtown, and $10 from the Strip to Downtown.
The latest debut to the Las Vegas Strip is the Monorail, a $650 million, state-of-the-art transportation system that connects 8 major hotels and the Las Vegas Convention Center. The monorail system launched operations in July 2004, the sleek, driverless monorail provides a quick and comfortable ride through the heart of the resort corridor. Plans are in the works for the Monorail route to extend downtown and to McCarran Airport.
